Shields – Kaleidoscope EP

Kaleidoscope is the new EP from hotly tipped Newcastle alt-pop band Shields. The band have seen a huge amount of support recently in the run up to this release. One of the most exciting bands to emerge from the North of England’s finest new music scene are set to unleash their unforgettably infectious debut EP on November 19th. Shields have announced their ‘Kaleidoscope’ EP will be released as a free download from their official website.

‘Mezzanine’ kicks off with a catchy use of synth, it’s harmonic and I can see it being a hit and being played in a club with people clapping and singing along. You should definitely check out the video for this song due to it’s entertaining sock-puppets!

It’s very Two Door Cinema Club but they’ve really put this EP together well. The bass in ‘Momentum’ provides a good catchy riff, as does the spiky guitar and I like the stompy choruses in ‘Silhouette’.

They’ve also done a good job of making their cover of SBTRKT’s ‘Pharoahs’ really sound like their own, it fits perfectly with the rest of the EP.

Each song on this EP provides different and memorable melodies, I can see this being quite a popular EP and I recommend it for fans of Two Door Cinema Club, Everything Everything and Metronomy.

You can pre-order the EP now on iTunes.
