It’s with huge pleasure that Great Cynics announce they will be touring the UK this September, bringing along Australian pals, The Smith Street Band, after meeting at Florida’s the Fest 11 last year.

Great Cynics have had a great couple of years since their humble beginnings. The London trio have gone from playing living room tours to Radio 1 live sessions and a debut at Reading & Leeds festivals this August – a festival they grew up going to. After two years gaining momentum with a debut album and a 7″ EP, their current full-length, ‘Like I Belong’, has turned heads with praise coming in from Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Big Cheese, whilst Punktastic called them “a band you need to to know now”.

“Uncompromisingly honest and affectionately simple akin to Billy Bragg and The Lemonheads, ‘Like I Belong’ makes their jubilant return seeing them at their mood lifting, sing-along best.” – Kerrang! – KKKK

The origins of both of these bands are remarkably, pretty similar. Both Giles of Great Cynics and Wil of The Smith Street Band started off playing solo house shows, winning mates over with their infectious, honest and relatable approach to songwriting. On different sides of the world, Wil and Giles collected band mates from their community of friends, and both bands morphed into touring machines, each playing their high-energy, commanding, fun-orientated takes on indie/folky punk wherever possible.
